Sneak Peek!

Here's a look at the half way completed next batch of carriers! They all reverse to a matching pattern, like two carriers in one. Two have hoods and two are hoodless. The straps colors will consist of black, blue, orange, and brown. I hope to have them completed and for sale by the weeks end. So keep watching!

Work in progress...

So we finally got the blog up and running! I just posted pictures of the most recent carriers sold. Sarah is going to add some pictures soon too. We are in the process of adding more info about the carriers we are making and selling. Eventually we will be posting finished carriers that are for sale here. The ones that are already posted serve as a reference point for our style and product.

We have had some great feedback from both moms and babies! In the baby gym class I take the girls too, there are now three other moms that have bought our carriers and are "wearing" their babies. All three of them have a two or three year old and a baby under one. I am so excited and encouraged to hear feedback from them on how it has made life in general easier and more enjoyable to wear their babies!

Ty

This carrier was made specially for baby Ty, my newest nephew! He is two weeks old in these pics, and seemed to have no trouble at all snuggling up against mommy inside his new mode of transportation.

Classic

This classic mei tai style carrier has padded straps and is reversible! Made for a sweet little girl Olivia.

Just sold

I loved this one. It was made for a friend with a 9 month old sweet little boy.
There are a few pictures with the hood to headrest function in use with a very small baby. The second one was made for another mommy with a 10 month old walker who is all over the place! It shows the hood to headrest feature, as a padded hood as well as rolled down as a headrest.

Let us introduce ourselves

Brooke and Sarah:
Sisters-in-law
Former elementary school teachers
Stay at home moms
Owners and operators of sewing machines
Mothers of two little girls (Brooke) and two little boys (Sarah)
Shared love of babywearing
Shared resourcefulness and love of creating

That's us in a nutshell! Together we make up a pretty awesome team. Sarah is the thinker, planner, and researcher. She is a much more thorough seamstress. She can become an expert at about anything she decides she want to do. I know Sarah will likely argue this point; too bad this is my post! I (Brooke) am the "think outside the box," big idea kinda girl. Actually, I am probably standing on top of the box. I have a lot of ideas, just not necessarily any plans how to make them happen. I am the horrible combination of a procrastinator and a perfectionist who likes to dream big.

Sarah and I both possess a certain craftiness and creativity that comes from being semi-retired teachers. After we both found our babies to be too big and too uncomfortable to be carried around in a certain popular carrier (hint: it has a Scandanavian name), we started researching, planning, creating, and sewing! We learned from experienced babywearers and seamstresses, followed their advice, and created our own baby carriers in the form of "mei tais." After numerous mistakes, bad stitch jobs, sewing the wrong pieces together, etc. we got in "the groove." We have a sense for what works and what doesn't. (For us at least!)

We started making carriers to reflect our own personal preferences and sense of style. We are by no means expert seamstresses, but I do think we are pretty good thinkers and executors of creative ideas that often come to us in the wee hours of the morning during a feeding or diaper change! Feel free to take a look at what we have created! Enjoy!
